Masters of Today: Beyond Truth
From Rembrandt to Elon Musk

Cosmology and modern masters of art & science are illuminated and their ideas explained through a  7 piece L.E.D artwork called "7 ISLANDS" commissioned by the G10 and Boudewijn Richel.

Each island represents a rupture or break in time when art and science came very close together, and painters and scientists talked more with each other than they do today.

MORE INFORMATION:

“Masters of Our Time” brings together great thinkers and visual artists like Stephen Hawking, Kandinsky, Byung-Chul Han, Andy Warhol, and contemporaries like Damien Hirst and Elon Musk. The exhibition is a playful but deep analysis of what it means when truth leaves us. Are we ready for this? The exhibition jumps from Plato, whom we see as a philosopher spreading fake news, to Donald Trump, who loves the term ‘alternative facts.’

According to Anselm Kiefer, Einstein suffered his whole life under the discovery that the laws of nature were different for big objects compared to small objects like atoms. Two truths existing at the same time directly caused trouble and marked the start of modern times.

As we enter the era of virtual reality with AI and all its unexplored freedoms and identity issues, we need great artists to deal with them. People usually tend to think in terms of truth and lies, inner and outer, or black and white. But as science has taught us, even color in nature, like green, is not inherently a quality of plants and trees but programmed by the minds of humans who perceive them. What is it that we know and find beautiful, and why? How much is the mind part of the perceived artwork?
